“Keeping Urban Montgomery in the Know”
Considered by some the best player in the NBA, Lebron James may have other decisions to make now. Will he stay or will he go? Some speculate he may go to New York, while some say he may be traded to the Lakers. I have to say Kobe-Lebron together, would be crazy...in a good way! They would basically dominate the NBA. Personally i feel he will probably stick around in Cleveland for a few more years, but if he is traded i'm sure it will come with a big ticket price.....

I'm sure most have heard the story or seen the footage of the guy being beat by the Birmingham Police Department. The incident took place January 23, 2008 and the footage just came light a few days ago. Five officers were fired, and all five stated they did not know the victim was unconscious. Now based on the video once the victim was thrown from the car, the first office runs over and starts to hit him with his club, and then several others follow pursuit by punching, kicking, and stomping. At no point does it show the cops checking to see if the man was dead, because he clearly is not moving at all. I not sure if their adrenaline was pumping and they got caught in the moment or if they were just upset that the guy sent them on a chase. True, the guy should have obeyed the law and stopped and he was asked too, but surely he did not deserve what happened to him as he lay on the ground unresponsive. If they thought what was done was right, why wait over a year to present your evidence? It's said the first video given to DA for review did not even include the beating. So who is covering who, and is this the first time something of this nature as occurred?....Probably not, and most likely will not be the last. Although the guy didn't deserve to be beat, does the officers deserve to be fired? Some say yes, some say no, I say I'm not sure. Several things would play a part such as, how long they've been with the force, anything negative in their file, explanation for reacting the way they did, and what happened after the camera was turned off. Maybe a lesser punishment such as desk work for a while could work for some.....who knows....This incident has occurred, so now what is being done to keep this from happening in the future. View the video below.

Today it was voted on by the Montgomery Board of Education to cut jobs in the Montgomery school system. Included in the cuts were 63 teaching jobs and about 83 other jobs including assistant principals, counselors, and secretaries. The cuts are due to lack of funds available. Right now i'm sure the Education lottery looks pretty good to some people. The education lottery is popular in some states including Georgia. From my understanding , some of the money from the lottery goes towards the school, salaries, and provides scholarships to students. I know personally that some students do receive scholarships, because a friend in high school moved to GA and recieved one. Of course it was shot down in Alabama due to the lack of support by residents. Maybe something similar can be adopted here in the state. Not saying it will solve all the problems with education funds, but at this point it couldn't hurt anything.

Having read snippets of Othello and seeing the movie "O", which is based on the play, I thought I knew what to expect. Well, other then knowing that they would die, i finally got what the William Shakespeare play is all about, Trust and communication . Esau Pritchett did a good job as Othello, who believed his wife Desdemona, was cheating on him. Although he had no evidence he believed everything Iago told him. Iago, a big instigator, told him she was seeing another solider by the name of Cassio. Instead of asking Desdemona, his wife, about the situation, which was not true, he got upset and killed her. Emilia, Iago's wife, realizes what has happens and tries to explain that it was not true, but its to late because she's already dead. So, in turn Othello realizes the mistake he has made and can no longer live with himself and kills himself as well. My thing was why not just ask......why not go to her and see what the deal really is. By not asking it's makes it seem as though you believe your friends over your spouse, you know the one you supposedly love, especially when they sacrifice as much as Desdemona did. Although all the characters were acted well, the standout for me was Carolina Strong, who played Emilia, her body language, facial expressions, and reactions throughout the play were priceless. Scene stealer of the night goes to David Stewart Hudson, Clown, his first 5 minutes of dialogue, which came towards the end of the first half, killed and was totally unexpected. I would strongly recommend seeing the show if you get chance and if you don't mind characters speaking with a thick English accent. If not you can always rent "O".

Today the minimum age to dropout of High School in Alabama changed from 16 to 17. The student must attend a exit interview with a school administrator and have a parent or guardian present before being able to drop out. They also will have to sign something stating that they are aware of what they are doing and the consequences that may follow with dropping out. Can't say I don't blame them for passing this law. I feel a lot of kids are thanking too many things for granted including a free education. Why not go to school and try and do something with yourself? Majority of the time when they quit school, they get bored, and get into nothing but trouble. But there's also the other side, if the kids don't want to be there will they become a problem and hinder the others from learning, by forcing them to stay a extra year? The way I see is, at 17 your basically done and if you've made it that far why quit? Go ahead finish and see what opportunities await. Hopefully with this new law administrator as well as parents will try to keep the youth involved in school, and hopefully the dropout rate will decrease.

When Taurus Shackleford 20, went into the convenience store Petro on Fairview Ave, he planned to take the money and walk out. Instead he met his match with store clerk Earline Sword. Sword give him the money after he continuously poked her in the arm with screwdriver, but once she saw he didn't have a gun she locked him in the store and got a big stick to keep him away until the cops arrived. Once cops arrived he told them he was on crack cocaine and was getting the money to buy more. I commend Ms. Sword for holding it down! View the WSFA interview below:

Roderick Anthony Burton II, 20, a rapper known as DOLLA, was shot and killed today a Beverly Center in LA today. Some say the shooting stemmed from a altercation in Atlanta, GA, but nothing has been confirmed. According to the LA Times....
The shooting occurred just after 3 p.m. at the La Cienega Boulevard entrance to the popular Westside shopping center. All entrances and exits to the popular Westside shopping mall were sealed off as police swarmed the scene. LAPD officials said that officers were sent to the mall on a report of a group fight, possibly involving a knife. LAPD Sgt. Ronnie Crump said two suspects ran in the direction of Beverly Hills. At a Chipotle restaurant in the mall, several people were eating when the shots rang out. “The customers were yelling ‘close the store, close the store, because somebody is shooting,’ ” said Elsa Hernandez, general manager of the restaurant. An employee who was behind the restaurant, near the mall’s valet parking service, saw the tail end of the dispute, Hernandez said. “He saw a lady … shooting a handgun,” Hernandez said.
Updated : Police have arrested one “person of interest” in connection with the shooting but were looking for a second suspect.I understand being upset, but is anything every worth killing someone over. If the issue really started Atlanta, it should have ended in there instead of following someone across the country to finish the issue. Then to kill someone and go to the airport to board a plane like nothing has happened is crazy. Dolla was best known for his song "Who The F*** Is That". Still not sure click HERE
Updated .: The arrested suspect, who fled from the mall in a silver Mercedes, was detained at Los Angeles International Airport while trying to board a flight. Police said the shooting took place in the valet waiting area of the mall

Alvin Holmes, State Representative, is worried someone is out to knock him off. Although he has no concrete information, he has begun to take precaution. He has security at his home and someone to traveling with him at all times. The person with the hit out on him is supposedly a former custodial worker for the State House who was fired for allegedly dealing drug from a office at his place of employment. At the current, Holmes is basing the threat off a rumor he heard, no one has called him or presented him with hard evidence that the guy is out to get him. I guess if i were in the situation i would try and get a little more information before putting the story out there. Someone could be doing it as a joke to get a laugh, which a lot of people are doing now. On the other hand if the story is true, and the guy feels he was fired wrongfully, then he should file a lawsuit against the house, instead having a man killed. He could go to court, win some riches, and continue living in the outside world. I'm a little interested to see where this will go!

If you have an email address chances are you've received emails telling you the story of how someone was attacked or followed and it usually targets women and children. Well 99% of the time these emails are BOGUS, and causes police departments to be flooded with calls with worried citizens. The more calls the cops receive, the more they are starting to crack down on the problem. Police are now tracing the email back to the originator and arresting that person with a misdemeanor charges. Recently, Jamica Willis, 26, from Vincent, AL was arrested for starting a email about being assaulted at a convenience store in Hoover, AL. She being held on a $1,000 bond. Authorities say the best thing to do if you receive a email like this is to delete it and do not forward!

There is currently an email hoax in circulation about the State of South Carolina encouraging African American males to attend one of their colleges or universities to become a teacher and their tuition would be FREE!!! WRONG,WRONG,WRONG.....When I received the email it seemed believable enough, but of course I had to verify the information. Once I checked their site there was disclaimer about the email hoax. The program "Call Me MISTER" which is an acronym for Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models, does exist but the tution is NOT free and it's open to anyone interested. They do offer tuition assistance and book support, plus a small stipend to defray other associated costs of attending college. More info HERE
