Well, well, well....the BET Awards aired tonight @ 7pm and with the death of Michael Jackson the entire show was dedicated to him. Although this was an awards show, they only presented about 10 awards on air in the entire 3hrs 42min show. Overall, the show was just ok, with a couple high points. The high notes for me were Neyo, Monica, Jamie Foxx, Jay-Z, Maxwell, and the Shank Robbers (Wanda & Shanaenae) clip. Jamie Foxx as a host really did an impressive job and it was good to see Janet Jackson speak towards the end, especially with everything going on and all. It was apparent Usher and Chris Brown were unable to make it, seeing as how Neyo took to the stage about 5 times, but he did his thing. Just a couple notes to BET: 1) Kobe was robbed of the Best male athlete award. 2) stop letting Tiny speak on camera....it's a no-no. 3) BAN Ving Rhames from future shows...lol! Listed below are my thoughts of all the performances...
1. New Edition....Tribute to MJ; it was really good to see all 6 of the guys back together singing and dancing. They did a good job.
2. Keri Hilson....Turnin' me on & knock me down....her dancing and singing have both improved, it just didn't connect for me,the track was louder then her and she changed mic's 3 times and she should have have ended the performance instead of doing the MJ adlib at the end, it didn't work.
3. Neyo....Lady in my Life....with this tribute to MJ, Neyo showcased his vocals without all the dancing, and he did it well....one of the best of the night.
4. Keke Palmer...Who's Lovin You....well, she didn't perform, she showcased her vocals before presenting an award, and she can really sing!
5. Jamie Foxx ft. T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, & Travis Barker....Blame it on....aside from T-Pain's "BIG ASS CHAIN" the performance was hot, especially when he rocked it out towards the end!
6. Soldier Boy....Swag On....YAWN! waste of time! I know i'm older now but somethings just don't make since to me, and this would be placed in that category.
7. Beyonce'....Ava Maria.....a little shocked that she did this particular song, because she known for doing the over top shows and kills, but this time she did a simple performance just her and the music, all while keeping her vocals on point and it worked. Not many other artist could have pulled it off.
8. Mary Mary ft. Queen Latifah....God in Me... The sisters of Gospel music did a good job and Queen's rap really added a nice flavor to the song.
9. Jamie ft Neyo & Fabulous...She Got Her Own...Not sure who performed more tonight Neyo or Jamie. Don't get me wrong, the performance was not bad but it was really not needed. I mean for real BET......
10. Old School Dedication

Today Michael Jackson, 50, was found at his home in Los Angeles, suffering from cardiac arrest, and was pronounced dead later this afternoon. Growing up I can't lie I was a huge fan, he was my idol. I had posters, t-shirts, jackets, gloves....well, u get it. I was first introduced to MJ with the 'Off the Wall Album' record, and it was an actual vinyl record that my brother owned, and it was on from there. Learning the songs and dances, Michael ruled the Lee household. Today we lost an icon in the music world, and regardless of what he had gone through in the past several years, you can never deny that he is indeed a Legend. A True Entertainer in the best way possible, many aim to be on the same level as him, rather it's his dance style or a music video. It could be said that he is responsible for putting videos on the map, I mean who can forget Thriller! The Thriller album is classic and is what music should be. To have accomplished as much as has did in what seems like a short time, Michael will definitely not be forgotten. Sure we have new artist on the scene, but there will only be one Michael Jackson and he is the "King of Pop"!

Shaquille O'neal has been traded to the Cavaliers! He was traded for Alabama native Ben Wallace and also Sasha Pavlovic. I hope he and Lebron are not trying to win a ring next year and outshine the Lakers.... This will be the 5th team for Shaq. The NBA draft starts today.

Nathaniel Turner is a 7 y/o who had been left 'clincal dead' by his father 36 y/o Leslie Schuler. He was pronounced dead today @ 4:10pm. He had gone from Eufuala, AL to spend the summer with his dad in Massachusetts. According to authorities Nathaniel had be abused for about 8 weeks, but it wasn't until the incident on June 21 that left him in a state that he wasn't able to comeback from. A judge ruled it ok to remove him from life support due to being brain dead, based on testimony from the hospital. Abusing any child mentally or physically is not cool. What gave him the right to leave Nathaniel in a condition such as that? If parenting is not your thing, and it's apparent it's not, you should have left him in Eufuala with his grandmother. When you do things such as this you must realize there are consequences that occur, but it's clear Mr. Schuler does not have a conscience to care about consequences. One day people will learn the difference between discpline and abuse, helpfully sooner than later. Now the family must decide whether or not to donate his organs and prepare to say their final goodbyes to a innocent life that basically just began. My prayers are with his family!

A meeting with President Obama and members of the House aired earlier today on WNCF, an ABC affiliate. It was not a press conference, it was a discussion about healthcare in the US. Not sure of all the particulars, but I do know some people felt the need to go down WNCF and protest against their regular scheduled programming being interrupted with the President. They felt the station was showing favoritism for Obama and should not have shown it. Are they serious??!?!? I understand your free to do basically whatever with freedom of speech and all, but I feel it would have been easier to simply change the channel instead of wasting good gas! As many times as other Presidents have held televised pressed conferences, it hasn't been a problem locally until now. Some people are making everything negative Obama says because of the color of his skin. Grow up and get over it!

Mariah Carey released her new single today from her up coming album "Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel" (title is too long). For me it's just a ok track nothing spectacular. If you remember Eminem and Mariah had beef several months ago, Eminem was talking thrash about her or whatever......well, this is basically a diss track in my opinion. I hear it as a cd filler instead of a radio single.

It's been about 8 days and 85 people have received tickets for parking on their lawns, thats roughly about 10 tickets a day. I guess some are saying it's their property they can park where ever they like, while others see it as making the neighborhood look bad. I'm assuming enough people complained and now you receive a nice ticket. What ever the reasons are, we were all warned rather we like it are not, so you if you continue to park there and get a ticket for $50 you only have yourself to blame. Oh yeah, it's kinda hard to say you weren't parked because they take a picture as well, just in case you try to run game, and say "your honour, it wasn't me" .

Lil Wayne's Young Money Ent. have released their tour dates. The roster will include: Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy Tell'em and newcomer Drake. The official name for tour is "Young Money Presents: Americas Most Wanted Music Festival", which is kinda long, but anyway the crew will be in Atlanta August 9 @ the Lakewood Amphitheater. I'm sure the tickets will go pretty fast.

The superintendent job has been narrowed down to two people Samantha Ingram and Barbara Thompson for the Montgomery County school system. Although things are moving ahead some think that interim superintendent Clay Slagle was not selected because he's not black. Now I certainly hope that some members are not voting on someone for a job such as this because of the color of their skin. The importance should be placed on how qualified the person is for the job and what changes (for the better) they are expected to bring to the school system, not what color they are. I honestly am not familiar with the applicants or the board members who make the decisions, so i'm not sure if this type of accusation has occurred in the past. While watching the news, when the councilman stated this, i wondered if he had been asked the question, if Slagle was actually black would he be as supportive? But since Slagle is not black and I don't plan to ask, I guess we will never know. Hopefully they will be able to choose the right person for job without race becoming a huge focus, and realize they need to place any personal issues aside and get the job done they're set to do in a professional manner.
