2009 SKYCAP PROGRAM

ASU's Divison of Continuing Education, will be offering the SKYCAP PROGRAM this summer. The program is offered to grade levels 1-12 and includes academic studies math & english, as well as, sports & fitness swimming & soccer, plus many other programs. The program is setup in two sessions: Session 1 June 8-26 and Session 2 July 6-24, both session are 8am-5pm. Cost range from $60 - $160. Pre-registration will be open for Session 1 Saturday, May 23 and Session 2 Saturday, June 20, both are 9am-2pm at the Acadome Banquet Room. Click HERE for further info and registration form.

Joe L Reed Acadome....AGAIN!!!

Reed's name will be added back to the ASU Acadome. The Alabama House has given final approval to a resolution asking that former Alabama State trustee Joe Reed's name be put back on the school's basketball arena. His name was removed because trustees thought he brought negative attention to the univeristy.

Building Dedication at ASU....

Alabama State University will have a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the Life Science Building and Ralph David Abernathy Hall. The ceremony will be held Friday, May 8, at 2pm on the corner of Hall and O’Connell streets, located between the two buildings. The event is free and the public is invited. Click here for more info.

A Change is Coming.....Maybe!!!!

Joe L. Reed moved one step closer to having the Acadome renamed after him today. The Alabama Senate voted 16-3 in favor of a resolution today that would rename the arena at Alabama State University the Joe L. Reed Acadome. The resolution now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration. Reed was quoted saying "When you put a person’s name on something, you are honoring that person, when you take it off, you are dishonoring them."
