Obama's first 100.....

Today was the mark of President Obama's 100th day in the Oval Office, and people are already soooo negative. So, not to entertain them, I'll push forward. Considering the amount of time Obama has been in office and the shape the country was in when he took office, he seems on point to me. People have to understand that change is not an overnight thing, it takes time. You first have to draw up a plan and review carefully before putting it in action, I mean it is a Country he's running. Maybe people are just intimidated by him, that's cool, but is it fair to say "he's own the track to being the worst President ever", when we just dealt with Bush for 8 years. I mean isn't Bush part of the blame for the situation we're currently in? I don't really feel the need to go through everything Obama has or has not done up until this point, all I ask is can the man have at least 2 years in office, before trying to take away the position we put him in ?!?!?!

Yung L.A.
ft. Ricco Barrino
"Futuristic Love" (Elroy)
Interscope/Geffen Records

This is the new single from Yung L.A., known for his guest spot on "Ain't I" with T.I. , and features Ricco Barrino, Fantasia's Brother. I Heard this song for the time on my drive home from work today and thought the hook was pretty catchy, which is basically its point, and the background track was tight. I then started listening to the lyrics closely and noticed they continued to say "I wanna Elroy you" and thought it was kinda strange. It wasn't until I heard the title of the song that I realized that 'Elroy' was a reference to the cartoon character on the Jetson's, hence the title 'Futuristic Love'. With L.A.'s new ATL (Shawty Lo) sound and Ricco going into K-Ci (his cousin) modes at times, overall I think the song serves its purpose.

Sojourner Truth Honored......

Sojourner Truth (1797-1883), an American Slave, abolitionist, and womens' rights activist, was honored today at the US Capitol by the National Congress of Black Women. A bust of Ms. Truth was placed on display at Emancipation Hall at the Capitol Visitor Center. The effort to have this done has taken almost 10 years, making her the first African American to have a memorial bust in the Capitol. On hand for this great occasion was first lady Michelle Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Sojourner Truth, whose given name was Isabella Baumfree, was also known for her speech "Ain't I A Woman?"

Photo Op......

White House Officials have apologized for bringing back bad memories of 9/11 to the residents of NYC. The FAA allowed Air Force One to fly in low range over the World Trade Center site, to take part in a photo shoot, placing the city in an uproar. The photo shoot was an attempt to update photos of the aircraft for White House records. It was said that Obama was really upset once he heard what had happened. Obama had not been advised by the FAA of what was going to occur in the city, and thought they used "poor judgement" and would not have agreed to let them do it. Based on the photo above, it wasn't worth it. Maybe they didn't have photoshop?!?!!?

"Welcome Home"

Extreme Makeover aired tonight on ABC featuring the Jordan family of Montgomery. In the beginning of the show they reflected on the trials and tribulations the family have suffered, and you find out just how humbled the family really are for this oppurtunity. Brady and Monica Jordan are the parents of 4 children, unfortunately 2 of their children were killed in unforeseen circumstances. Folashada, their oldest daughter, was killed from an act of domestic violence, and William, their only son, was killed 8 years later by a drunken driver. After the lost of each child, the Jordan's took in their grandchildren Miles 15, Shan 14, and Tay-Tay 11. Since their deaths, Monica Jordan has since become a strong advocate for MADD and the State of Alabama's Crime Victims Commission.
With the Extreme crew, Aronov Homes, and over 600 volunteers the Jordan's old home was demolished and replaced with a two-story 3200 sq ft home. Each member of the family residing at the home was given their own bedroom, and was specialized to fit each person's personality. Their daughter Britney 23, received a Victorian inspired bedroom, Miles received a basketball theme, Shan a poetry theme, and Tay-Tay's was Earth Science inspired. The master suite was very comtemparary with pictures of hands reaching out hanging from the walls. In the end, the Jordan's were very appreciative for everything that was done by everyone. As a added bonus Ms. Jordan was awarded a full paid scholarship to AUM to pursue the law degree she always wanted, and all three grandchildren received a scholarship as well that will be waiting for each of them when they graduate from high school. Ms. Jordan was quoted saying "It's amazing how your story can help someone else and let them know that there will always be a different normal, but it's always going to be OK."

**MEDICAL ALERT**

Swine Flu has hit the U.S. Though no cases have been found in the Montgomery area or Alabama, cases have been reported in New York, Ohio, Kansas, Texas, and California. The age of the patients range from 9 to 50. It is said that it's possible the virus came from Mexico, where 81 deaths have been reported, and sickened more than 1,000 people. Several students in the noted states recently visited Mexico on Spring Break and may have contracted the virus at that time. According to CDC swine flu is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza. Swine flu viruses do not normally infect humans, however cases have occurred in the past. Physicians have stated that if you feel you may have any flu-like symptoms, to limit your contact with others to keep from infecting them and to report it to your primary physician asap. Listed below are some tips to stay healthy:

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

    A Change is Coming.....Maybe!!!!

Joe L. Reed moved one step closer to having the Acadome renamed after him today. The Alabama Senate voted 16-3 in favor of a resolution today that would rename the arena at Alabama State University the Joe L. Reed Acadome. The resolution now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration. Reed was quoted saying "When you put a person’s name on something, you are honoring that person, when you take it off, you are dishonoring them."
